The Biometrics Institute is an important resource for information and knowledge of biometrics in the region and beyond.

There are two categories of membership: User and Suppliers. We also offer a special Services Subscription for Universities and Research Institutions.

 

The Biometrics Institute Membership benefits include:

• Receive support in making an informed decision about the introduction and implementation of biometrics;
• Use opportunities for networking and information sharing with government, vendors and user of biometric technologies in an unbiased forum of over 100 membership organisations;
• Identify biometric suppliers through the free Biometrics Institute Supplier Directory;
• Receive discounted and free registrations to Biometrics Institute events;
• Participate in education and training for biometrics; Receive regular Updates on current news in the biometrics industry;
• Access to Up-to-date Information on a secure Website Portal, from the knowledgeable technical and privacy committee and an annual industry survey;
• Participate in the development of Standards, Research, Benchmarks and Test Regimes;
• Provide input into government policy and programs impacting on the industry;
• Raise your profile in the industry as well as promote the industry overall;
• Address user concerns such as privacy of information i.e. by voluntarily subscribing to the Biometrics Institute Privacy Code;
• Receive reduced Fees for Privacy advice, Privacy Impact Assessments and Vulnerability Assessments;
• Use a single point of contact for biometrics which offers unbiased support to help make informed decisions about biometrics
• Access support for universities and non-commercial research organisations to promote their R&D.
• Have the right to vote and stand for a position on the Board of Directors*.
  
  *The constitution requires the majority of the Board of Directors, the Chairman and Deputy Chairman to be user representatives.

University and Research Institution* Subscription Benefits

This subscription is targeted at research institutions *(non-commercial) and universities which are conducting research in the area of biometrics, identity management systems and surveillance. The benefits of this subscription include:

• Free access to an unlimited number of Biometrics Institute member meetings for up to 4 people
• Free subscription to the 6 weekly eNewsletter for the main subscription contact
• Free logon to the secure Biometrics Institute website for the main subscription contact
• 2 free tickets to Biometrics Institute conferences
• Advertising of key research events on the Biometrics Institute website
• Participation at Biometrics Institute Poster Exhibitions which run alongside the Sydney conference
• Attendance at Biometrics Institute workshops at the special rate of $220 incl. GST
