Special Interest Groups
These meetings are designed to gather organisations on a regular basis to discuss specific topics in an informal setting facilitated by the independent Biometrics Institute. These meetings are currently being held in Australia (quarterly in Canberra and Sydney, bi-annually in Brisbane and Melbourne), New Zealand (quarterly in Wellington), Singapore (bi-annually) and Europe (quarterly in London).
Format:
The meetings are approximately 2 hours long and consist of 1-2 speakers presenting on a similar topic such as ‘law enforcement and biometrics’ and discussion is generated on this specific issue. This is usually initiated by guest visitors to an area or area experts.
Audience:
Open to all members (but specifically those interested in that Special Interest Group Focus and typically attended by 10 - 30 people. Meetings follow an interactive format, with lively participation and discussion. Non-members may attend at a fee.
Biometrics Institute Government Special Interest Group (SIG) Meetings
The Biometrics Institute has been organising the Biometrics in Government SIG since 2001.
Format: Government SIGs are similar in format to the SIG’s and Member Meetings, typically a 1.5 - 2 hour meeting featuring 1-2 speakers who are government employees.
Audience: The Government SIGs are exclusive to government employees.
