Following the World Health Organisation’s announcement to declare COVID-19 coronavirus a pandemic, the spread of the virus and travel restrictions across the world, we are reviewing our event plans for 2020.
Over the last few weeks we’ve been in daily contact with several of our local US stakeholders and have monitored official advice as the planned date of our March US Conference approaches. We have taken the decision to postpone this event to September 21 in Washington DC.
The institute’s mission is to promote the responsible and ethical use of biometrics and we apply those values across all our activities. The health and safety of our members and stakeholders is of the highest priority to us. Nevertheless our important conversations about biometrics need to continue. That’s why, as part of the US Conference, we’ve added an extraordinary online meeting on the 24 March 2020.
Spaces are limited for this meeting, but members will receive a link to the recording of the event afterwards.
We have moved our 8th annual ID@Borders Conference to 20-21 October in London. For the first time it will co-locate with our annual Biometrics Institute Congress.
Over half of our existing April speakers have already confirmed that they’ll be joining us in London. We will be updating the programme over the coming days.
Singapore member meeting
In consultation with our Singaporean members, we have decided to postpone our Singapore member meeting from May to September. We will be in touch about the new date as soon as it is confirmed.
Other 2020 events
Over the coming weeks we’ll be making decisions on our Australian conferences and other events around the world.
These are uncertain times for us all but I know many of you share my belief that it has never been more important to continue our conversations on biometrics. We will be working harder than ever over the coming months to ensure this can still happen.
Please be assured that if you are registered for an event we will be in touch with you as soon as our plans are confirmed.
