Fundamentals of biometrics: Your risk management begins here
Are you implementing biometrics, wondering how the technology works, or simply curious about the field? The Fundamentals of Biometrics online course is designed to equip you with a solid foundation in biometrics and its diverse applications.
Grounded in the Institute’s Good Practice Framework and the Three Laws of Biometrics (Policy, Process, and Technology), this course provides an overview of implementing biometric systems, addressing critical policy issues, key processes, and the inherent risk management challenges in selection, procurement, and operation. You’ll learn the recommended sequencing and prioritisation of key decisions across the biometric lifecycle, all at your own pace and in your own time.
The course builds on the popular in-person workshop. We’ve transformed it into this accessible online format, bringing essential biometric knowledge to a global community anytime, anywhere.
The Fundamentals of Biometrics course modules comprise:
Module 1: Strategic planning for your biometric use case.
Module 2: Quality data collection, management and protection
Module 3: Processing modes employed in biometric applications and basic procedures
Module 4: Ethical considerations associated with biometric processing, accuracy and performance
To gauge interest and ensure we meet your needs effectively, we are initially releasing the first segment of Module 1. This initial segment, Strategic Planning for Biometrics, is a crucial foundation for anyone considering implementing a biometric application. It serves as an initial introduction to the first of four modules in this short course, designed to provide a fundamental understanding of the entire biometric system lifecycle.
Please note: The remainder of Module 1 plus Modules 2, 3, and 4 will be developed and released depending on user uptake and feedback on Module 1, Segment 1.
Who is this for?
This course is designed for all levels of expertise. Whether you’re new to biometrics or a seasoned professional looking to reinforce your knowledge, you’ll find valuable insights.
