About the Biometrics Institute
The Biometrics Institute was founded in October 2001 to provide an independent and impartial international multi-stakeholder platform for the sharing of knowledge and information about biometrics. Our mission is to promote the responsible and ethical use of biometrics through thought-leadership and good-practice guidance.
The organisation is unique in that it has been set up as a user group with a majority of user members such as government departments, financial institutions, airlines etc. to set the strategic direction of the association. Nonetheless, we welcome suppliers and academia as well as privacy experts to join as members.
